Hi all,
I've played wargames but none of Mantics or GWs.
I really liked the minis and deals available in the KickStarter campaign so I've dived in and pledged for the Veteran package plus another $125 for BOGOFs (and maybe a t-shirt).

Having done so I do have a couple of ideas in mind but no clue how to actually achieve them.
Firstly an Ogre army.
I know I can have the Ogres with Hand Weapons and Ogre Shooters lead by the Ogre Hero.
What are your recommendations for army structure?

With the amount of freebies with the Kickstarter I can also look at building a 2nd army.
Celestials are the obvious choice but what do you all recommend as being a counter-point to the Ogres (but without being a horde army)?

So, in summary, what BOGOFs should I go for?

How about Abyssal Dwarves, there's some nice stuff for them in the kickstarter - failing that how about normal dwarves?

It's worth noting that the Ogres are actually part of the "Kingdoms of Men" army, so going for the celestians means you'll have two human-based armies.

The undead and orcs are my personal favorites for model quality, and orcs are quite fun to play in KoW. I have no experience playing Undead.

I created a second account and pledged an extra $175 in BOGOFs so I now have the Veteran set plus $300 to play with plus another set of the freebies.

Bear in mind, as the Ogres are part of the Kingdoms of Men list, that your base force is Neutral, so it doesn't matter which other models you pick, as they can ally with either Good or Evil.

Goblins is the only real Horde army, although, you could avoid it with lots of Mawbeasts.

Orcs and Undead, whilst traditionally Horde armies, can be filled with lots of cavalry (breaks away from the Large Infantry Ogres) or elite units like Trolls, Werewolves, Wraiths and Wights.

Oh, and there might be an Ogre list released around the same time as the models.  But I didn't tell you that...   Tongue

You take yourself very seriously for a grown man playing with toy soldiers...

Ok, after much crunching of numbers and nudging of my remaining brain cell I think I'm heading in the following direction:

Pledge 1: Veteran + $125
Pledge 2: $175

The lists:

List 1 OGRES - uses 4 BOGOFs plus the Ogres from the Veteran set.
1 Ogre Hero   Huh
3 Ogres M + Cmd   140      M = Melee
3 Ogres M + Cmd   140
3 Ogres M + Cmd   140
3 Ogres M + Cmd   140
3 Ogres R    140      R = Ranged
3 Ogres R    140
10 Gargoyles   90
10 Gargoyles   90
10 Gargoyles   90
3 Fight Wagons   150
3 Fight Wagons   150
3 Bogies (Trolls)   120
3 Bogies (Trolls)   120

List 2
1 Cursed Pharaoh   200
10 Mummies   300
1 Mounted Standard Bearer   30
40 Skeletons   135
40 Skeletons   135
60 Zombies   225
20 Wraiths   380
20 Wraiths   380

Made from 2x Undead Army sets and swapping the 40 Ghouls & 40 Revenants with someone for the 40 Wraiths (I realise that's a 2:1 swap but if Mantic can show the love so can I!)

In total that leaves me $50 which is just enough for a tee-shirt and the printed Expansion & Supplement books.
Plus of course a lot of other miniatures!

Thoughts or comments on the lists?
