I'm not going to run out and buy a bunch of the new paints to try out either, but since close to 50% of my currently used paint bottles are GW's, as they run out I'll be having to replace them with something. That's probably when I may give some a try.

Of course at my current speed of painting many of the new paint colours may very well be discontinued by then.

I'll probably cherry-pick a few to see if they are as good as people are saying.

In particular, I want to see if the black primer and base white are any good.

No point in buying 145 paints though, I'd end up never using half of them... easier to mix to get colours that you hardly ever use.

And their movement trays are still good value for money.

Amazing the difference a couple of months makes isn't it...

I'm afraid to go look at the GW site. How bad is the price increase?

Something like a 65% increase on the movement trays.

Basically, last month GW took every single item in their range where I thought "well, X is still kinda okay value" and increased it massively.

Stuff like the movement trays and terrain mostly, but also the £8 plastic characters (now £9).

It's like they have a company policy to seek out and destroy anything that risks even being perceived as a good deal.

On the bright side, I now can't think of a single reason to buy absolutely anything from them, except maybe the battle mat (which will probably rise to £30 now that I've said that).

You mean the terrain just before it became part of the army list in 40k.....

I have two unopened movement tray sets and one started one. I bought them last year for making new KoW movement trays and haven't got round to it yet. I'm glad I bought them when they were still reasonably priced.

I've been buying a package of their movement trays here and there myself, so I do have a few put away. Not sure I have enough for everything I've currently got, pretty sure I don't,  and definately won't have enough for when the Kickstarter stuff starts to arrive.

I really wish Mantic and/or Renendra would come up with something similar at a reasonable cost. I think it would sell quite well. I like the modular design and had plans to use it in other projects, but a 65% price increase is ridiculous.

Speaking of terrain, Tabletop World now sells this beauty for around £20, or roughly the same price as the GW terrain kits post-price rise.

GW can keep their skull-infested overpriced BS, a pair of these are going straight on my shopping list.  Smiley

(and yes, the roof is removable and it has interior detail too!)

I absolutely love TableTop Worlds buildings, although their price means I only have their Merchants House and the Covered Well along with some accessories. Still unassembled and unpainted of course, as if anyone needed to ask. Wink

This building seems very reasonable compared to their other offerings, but Kickstarter has kicked the **** out of my hobby budget for pretty much the rest of the year.

Still, this building will be going on the list of most wanted. Grin

I just looked a Home Depot for 1/8" tempered hardboard.  You can get a 4' x8' sheet for $8.48.  From that you can make about 300 KOW regimental bases.  Of course, you would have to figure out a way to make lips for the edges.  Or, just glue the figures down and have at it.  I am pretty sure that I am in the wrong business.

Back when I first got into wargaming, we used to make our own movement trays from scratch. Heck, I even used to cut individual mini bases from poster board, carefully measuring and cutting and measuring and cutting and...

Nowadays I like simplier premeasured easily cut trays. Something that is quickly glued and job done.
