But depending what they are filled with, they might make the game more enjoyable... Or more complicated. I have been thinking that maybe magnetic bases might be the way to go for me with my Mantic figs. I'll have to take a look at Maccwar's blog once I get home to see his method.

The approach I'm thinking of is drilling a hole in the centre of the bases pre-assembly, so that after the model is glued to its base there's a nice neat recessed hole ready to glue a magnet into.

I think that maybe mantic missed a trick when they tooled the bases in the first place, a ready made hole would have been a good idea.

I mag the bases before I assemble. No need to blu-tac them to a holder when painting, I can just stick them to a metal "handle".
