After a quick read through of the last Journal, I was particularly fascinated by the story of Yip Lee and the Dipping Swallow.
Several intriging phrases in it:

"A skittering noise...that sounded like bare feet on rock"

"The edges of the hole were carved out in broad cuts, like chisel marks. The hole was perfectly round, cut –
chewed?"

"high-pitched chittering"

"fur, maybe"

"Yellowing fangs"

Just a red herring or evidence the 8th race are terrifying rat men?

Someone's a Bronie!

Also, it is almost certainly Veermyn. What isn't being stated is that it is very likely the source of the next Board game... right? right?
That would be fantastic, and would suit my boardgame collection very well.

If Veermyn are indeed the 8th race, then I hope the 9th race are Kzinti.

I'm warming to the idea of Veermyn as the 8th race.  I've always thought someone should have done ratmen in space.

I hope they get some sort of "rat hole" rule where they can pop out in different places.

As for Bronies, the only reason someone doesn't love the new My Little Pony series is that they haven't seen it yet.   Tongue

Completely agree!

Also, Pinkie Pie is a total crackhead.

I'd accept "Twilight Sparkle", on condition that you install the following set of emoticons first:

.. probably best not to create a monster though.

My God! It's full of ponies.  Shocked

Well one of two things is happening here.

Either scarletsquig has begun to show us a previously unsuspected side of himself. Undecided

Or...

Scarletsquigs little sister is going to be in a whole heap of trouble when her brother comes home to find her playing on his computer. Angry

Have you not been reading the Mantic Blog?

Quote
In 2012, Mantic will announce a new license – My Little Pony boardgame and miniatures

It is official. Now is the time to catch up on the lack of ponies in your life, so you can be fully prepared for Mantic's next game!
The ponies are coming, and there is nothing you can do to stop them.  (not that you'd want to!)

For anyone wondering where all this My Little Pony stuff comes from online, you can check out the episode of "Know Your Meme" about it:

That video is 7 minutes long!

Time that could have been spent watching the first episode
Scarlet dares you to click the link ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ and watch the whole thing.

It's okay to get a bit drunk first, in fact I recommend it!

I also had no idea about the 4chan thing, I don't pay attention to that site, I just like the show for it's own merits, it's quirky and witty, has a really cool animation style and often has rock music or a full orchestra in the background.

I understand now why people like it, but I still think it's a little bit hipster.

That's cool though. I doubt many people here like Project Runway, but I watch that with my wife (and actually secretly enjoy it).

So... back to the veermyn. I'm really looking forward to this. I've already made a few space rat men. The old skaven multi-part plastics were great for converting in with bits from guardsmen and genestealers and other aliens.
