OK Guys, here are some pictures of my fully painted Fate of the Forge Star set.  Oh, and a Marauder Warlord that I managed to get a hold of...

Forgefathers Army Shot - includes the 5 extra troops from the set (there are actually 6, but only enough bases for 5)

Jotunn Cannon

Stormrage Veteran Leader

Marauders Army Shot - including Warlord

Marauder Warlord

Attackster

Comments/Criticism welcome.

Now, I could tell you what I'll be painting next, but I think I'll keep it secret for now...   Tongue

Very nicely done on all the minis. Other than the blue Mauraders, it's a somewhat more subdued colour scheme then I might have expected from you. Really like that flat faded green on the Orc vehicle. I quite like the painting on the dwarfs warmachine as well.

Back to the blue orcs for a moment, congrats on changing things up with the colour. Although I'm not sure that the blue works for me personally.

I like the scheme for the Forgefathers!

But like my Canadian chum, not so keen on the blue skin.  Again, Raptor looks super!

"Fantastic looking army and really shows what you can do when you put your mind too it, making something original in a new game"

Still think they look like ugly smurfs Tongue

Though in all seriousness, I think different coloured Orks are a good thing!  If I ever get round to painting and painting Orcs, I think brown, black or red would be my choice!

I've never been that flexible.  I mean, not that I've tried to find out or anything.

Congrats for sure, gaarew.  I'm sorely tempted to steal the blue, but I haven't decided for certain just yet.  You made them look great!  Seems to me there were some fine examples with red skin as well though.  Decisions, decisions.

Do it!

Really there is no reason for Orcs/Orx/Marauders to be green, it's a GW hangover.  Tolkein's Orcs weren't all green, nor were the Uruk-hai.  IIRC a lot of D&D Orcs were green, but it wasn't guaranteed, and browns were also common.

I do have one KoW Orc painted up in a browny red skintone, but I think I'll stick with blue for all my Mantic Orcs/Orx/Marauders.

Never you fear.  I know that the one color I *won't* be doing is green.  Bleh.  Never really cottoned to that anyways, so these are a great excuse to break off and go into a different tone entirely.

I'll probably go down the uruk-hai route if I ever decide I want to go with the marauders. Still toying with the idea of doing it for my orcs, but I'd need to find somewhere to put a lighter colour on the model to keep the contrast.

Albino Orcs was the other idea I had.
