How is it going?
I guess a brief little piece about myself is in order as this is infact an introductions post.

First up the real names Ash and I hail from South Australia. I have been wargaming for just over two decades now and that time has been spent mostly on Games Workshops games. I have huge armies for both Fantasy and 40k and warbands/gangs/warriors/things for pretty much all of their 'specialist games'. I also play systems from other publishers including Flame sof War, Warmachine etc.

When news of 'Mantic Games' a new company making plastic models came rolling about I was massively excited but that excitement died when I saw the first pictuires of the Elves. I hated them.. they were too skinny, spindly, anemic looking. I actually had real problems and was not afraid to voice my opinions on them. However one magical day about a year ago I saw some of the elves in the flesh and instantly took back my words and ate my shoes in the process. The elves were not so bad afterall, the kit was good they were just different. I think it may be that I was not used to seeing miniatures in a less exaggerated scale than what GW uses?

When the undead models started to be released I bought up loads of them. I had always planned on doing an undead army for Warhammer but did not really want to spend the megabucks on another horde army (I have 10000 points of Orcs and Goblins!) Mantics brilliant prices and great sculpts almost forced my hand and my grand undead army began to take form.

I like to play BIIIG games and when the beta rules came out I was absolutely awestruck that I could play huge games in a smaller amount of time with less rules to get in the way. My club loves BIIG games too and our 40k Apocalypse battles are to be seen to be believed; the most recent one was 105k points between 8 players  Shocked

I only just started looking at the newest edition of Fantasy and bought all the usual stuff; the ridiculously big (but cool) rulebook, several copies oif the starter set and all the flashy counters, magic cards, templates etc. I have played three games of that edition and have chucked it in. I am now only playing Kings of War for my Fantasy fix. My club will also only play Kings of War for their Fantasy fix. Hell my girlfriend loves Kings of War as she absolutely destroyed me in our first game using the Mhorgoths Revenge starter set (she completely wiped out my army and in return I did 5 wounds  Cry she used the dwarfs by the way)

So I'm selling all my GW Fantasy stuff. Being an Orc player I am more than thrilled with the prospect of Mantic releasing Orc models in the very near future. My girlfriend is slowly building up her Dwarf army but really hopes someone puts out a Skaven/Ratmen list soon.

So thats the gaming side.

What else about me... I hate painting but get it done cause a painted army is an awe inspiring site. I love conversions. I used to run my own wargaming forums but recently gave them away. I used to run a cool series of themed modelling competitions which I may talk about here at some stage if people are interested and admin is willing Smiley

Oh and Zombies... love the zombie apocalypse theme... so much so I have my own set of rules in development... Wink

Anyways I look forward to spending a good amount of time here and seeing what everyone gets upto Mantic Hobby wise.
Any questions?

Yeah, I can relate to this.  I wasn't keen on the Elves when I got the first promo sculpts, but I did amass scores of Undead at Carronade in Falkirk from the Mantic/Warlord stand, then I started really bulking out my Dwarfs, and figured I might as well just get a wee Elf army to complete the collection.  I say wee, it is currently over 200 models...

Indeed.

Interesting.

Hopefully after having added a link on the main Mantic forum, we'll see a bit more traffic and can look into proper challenges and so on and so forth.

Cheers for the reply!

I have just undercoated all my Revenants and Skeletons with Army Painter Skeleton Bone. I use army painter as I am very slack but too me the outcome looks pretty good. Sure it's not for everyone but I think the system can get a good tabletop army done very quickly.

As for the modelling competitions I guess I'll say more should that time ever come around.

I seem to get a lot of 'interesting's' from people when I mention my Zombie apocalypse rules. Hell when it comes to a playtestable version I'll link you guys to a copy.

Well the forums are still new it seems and I reckon you guys will start to see a lot of traffic in no time at all. Even the Mantic forums are quite slow but I think I'll enjoy my time here better that I wont have to copy and paste peoples links to see their work  Smiley

A man after my own heart.

I'm the laziest speed-painter I know.   Grin

Heh, If you want to see lazy speedpainting you should see my 40k Ork Loota army...

I can make some awesome looking terrain and I don't mind saying so. The problem is that when it comes to paint it I can not be stuffed and end up doing a slap dash effort. What I need to do is get myself a painting monkey that way I can put all my time and effort into building things and the monkey can paint.

Well, the terrain section is looking pretty empty...

Also, based on your sig, shouldn't your user name be Manticwhore?

Well, I thought it was punny...   Tongue

Ah, yes indeed it is.
When Mantic release some more fluff like stuff for Kings of War I'll start modelling up a storm!
At the moment I have a varied assortment of tables and terrains but the best of the lot would be the Realm of Battle gaming table. Needs resurfacing though...
Soon I shall start on some new and improved tables.

As for the name; manticore is exactly that mantic ****... just a little more veiled Smiley
