Maths on it works out to an average of 2 damage per turn on 5+ defence units.
So, 12 damage in a game compare to the balefire's paltry 3.5, for only 50% more points. That's more like it.
Funny thing is that I screwed up.
The 3.5 average damage is based on only the requirement to hit, and doesn't take into account the requirement to cause a single point of damage... If I factor that in, that means that there's just under a 1 in 7 chance to score a damage point, which means that there's a reasonable chance that no damage will be done at all during a game, and reduces the average amount of damage per game for the balefire catapult to a paltry 1.75.
I regret painting two of them to be honest. With the original rules, every second game they would be useless. With the new rules, I am sure they will always be useless
