Hi from Spain!!!

My name is Carl and I live in Madrid, Spain.
I'm an AD&D fan for over 20 years, but I like D&D 3.0.
I started with Avalon Hill wargames and met with GW at the age of 16 years and I started collecting warhammer 40k miniatures. Although I never liked WFB, my fantasy miniatures wargame always been AD&D BattleSystem, until last October I discovered Kings of War and quickly began to create my dwarf's army.

Unfortunately I can not paint as fast as I want, with three children at home is very complicated. Also dragging on for many years many unpainted miniatures (over 500 GW miniatures), although the last two years I managed to paint more than half. Now comes the turn my space marines and Mantic dwarves and I have them all painted by the end of the year.

I am also the administrator of a community of Spanish-speaking bloggers wargames called La Forja de Marte (The Forge of Mars), originally designed to Warhammer 40k, but now treats all wargames.

I write my own blog dedicated to my progress with the painting, conversions and models of all kinds, and some day I will make an English version.

Welcome aboard.

What's this nonsense about three children causing disruption with the painting schedule?  We'll have none of that talk here.   Grin

Although, I can relate to it.

Hi Carl! Anyone who loved "Advanced Dungeons and Dragons" has good taste in my book! I never got into 3.0 as my friends stopped RPGing to play miniature games awhile back. I bought the AD&D Battlesystem book, it was really neat, I loved the sheer variety of monsters and troops it covered!

I'd love to see your blog but I've forgotten all the Spanish I learned over 30 years ago, alas! When you translate it, let us know, 'kay? I think you picking up Mantic as part of your hobby is a great move, may it bring you years of fun!

Yay! Another Battlesystem player!

I was an AD&D player too, at least through 2nd Edition. Battlesystem was my wargame of choice too, and my group never got into Warhammer. Although when I returned to the hobby a few years ago, I gave it a try as it seemed to be the only game played anymore.

I never got into it. Thank goodness for Mantic.

Anyway. Great to have you here. Welcome to the group!

Asgard: Well, even though the summer in Madrid is hell:-P

Darsc Zacal: I have lived more or less the same as you, my group did not play wargames with miniatures ever, but I found a group just for this. I have also spent many years away from the hobby, you know, marriage, lack of time and the children, but in 2009 decided to go back and have done with renewed energy to play, and I´m learning to sculpt and clone my pieces for conversions. And most importantly, play at least once a week to rest of the family :-)

Welcome to the Fanatics!

I was a Battlesystem player too, although I was never so happy with it as I was when I realized I was never playing it again. Wink

I hope you enjoy your visit here as we ramble on.
