That would depend entirely on the rest of the army build.  I think Undead really need to have their full allowance of heroes allowed by solid units.

It does, but yeah...undead rely on heroes, and more specifically on Necromancers.  They absolutely have to have enough to make a strong move somewhere on the table.

I suggest a minimum of three, one for each aspect of the battlefield: Right flank, centre, left flank. That way there are enough Dark surges to get the forces of undeath into battle quickly. At 110 pts each that's not a big cut of the total 2K. That's the plan for my own Undead army anyway Smiley

Of course, you could always use Liche Kings rather than Necromancers.

I agree with gaarew. Going with the previous suggestion of having one to cover each of the main battlefield ares ie. R Flank, L Flank and Centre, I'd probably have the Liche King skulk behind the main battleline in the centre, supported by the Neccies on either flank.

I run a similar set up, but utilise the Vamp on Pegasus instead of the Liche King, allowing me some combat ability to back up the central line, whilst the Human Thralls/Zombies/Necromancer power up one flank, and the Soul Reaver led Ghoul/Necromancer trio power up and smash through the other, meeting in the centre for an **** of blood!

or something like that Wink

Answering the original question of how many is too few, I would have to agree with the consensus so far. Two is too few, three is a minimum.

I am using a Lich King at the moment, not because he is good for his points but because he is painted. :p
