I just realised how good Wraiths are! I was sitting around, doing some dice rolling and decided to see how effective wraiths are. I based it on the elf army box set as an opponent. Well, that army can have 52 shots, and even if all directed at the wraiths, because of their 6+ defence, they can shrug the majority off. In the roll I did, the received 1, 2 and 3 points of damage. With such a high defence, their low nerve doesn't seem to be a huge problem. Unless you get some really unlucky rolls, or an incredible amount of fire is directed at you, you should be safe for a few turns. I'm thinking of running two units of them along my flanks and cover dashing up the board to take out warmachines. They are perfect for this as they get triple attacks so they should be able to comfortably wipe out a warmachine in a turn. And they should be safe in their advance because of the various zombie hordes I'll be using to storm the centre *off to buy lots of lovely wraiths*

I wonder if you will be able to field units of 10 when the Undead lists are updated.

Piercing shooting could be a problem, something which the bolt throwers will definitely doing as soon as they get a clear shot.
That said they do look like good war machine hunters as long as you can find a way to stop the war machines shooting at them on the way in. And vs. dwarfs you also have piercing shooting from the rifles to worry about. So it's a case of either screening them (possibly with revenant cavalry) or hiding behind terrain as much as possible, or just taking loads and loads of them so that if one unit dies the other unit will finish the job.
Quite a tactical unit with it's heavy armour, high speed, low nerve and low attacks.. it really relies on getting it's attacks doubled or tripled after maneuvering into the right spot.
They do seem like a good general counter to the elf army since the elf list doesn't have much in the way of piercing or crushing strength to knock their 6+ Def down to something more manageable.. the only real hard counters to them in the list are the bolt throwers and the dragon, which take up some of the limited slots, whereas with the wraiths you can take as many units as you like.

They are quite expensive in comparison to the other Undead though, but tactically they give you options and your opponent headaches. But worth the points, I feel.
A larger Wraiths with higher nerve and more attacks would be very useful for the Undead general.

All good points. I think the wraiths are a glass hammer of sorts. If you can play them right, and get them to the enemy in relative safety (the should be able to make better use of cover due to their small footprint size) then you can eliminate key points in the enemy line with a good chance of success.
The more I read/think about K.o.W the more I'm finding it to be more tactical than 40k as there is no single unit that can win you the game without extensive support from other elements of your army.

And how do you find facing them? Are they something you have to take out straight away? What sort of tactics do you employ to bring them down?

I don't mind facing them, although, I prefer fielding them. I generally find 2 cannons, some Ironwatch riflemen, and some good rolling is enough to deal with them. I'd probably prioritise them over anything else in the Undead army as a target.

I've never played against wraiths, but I imagine they'd be perfect against warmachines. Get them behind enemy lines, then there's a serious problem.

I tend to use them on the flanks, either to double-team units with multiple charges, or to get around the back and cause havoc. Normally, they don't see much action, as most people have seen how I react to them, and follow suite. Still, it stops them shooting at everything else.

I have this dream of a RevKnight/Wraith army with some Vamps on Pegasii and Mhorgoth. A fast, powerful, annoying-to-deal-with army. I'll have to write it up and see if it works, or if I just can't get enough stuff to make it worth while.

I’ve been pondering about Wraiths recently as well. I’m toying with the idea of using them in combination with Ghoul and Revenant Cavalry Troops as a fast flanking force. I’ll test them out with some proxies first to see if they do what I think they can. Regardless of the results I’ll still get some as I really like the figures.

I definitely think flanking with them is the way to go. They have both the speed to worry the enemy flanks and also the ability to tie up enemy flankers.
