Well, just so I can trot out my Dwarfs as an army for Warhammer as well as KoW, I've been told by my tournament obsessed, and general filth monger list writing mate, that an Anvil of Doom is a must. Now, I want to make my army without using any GW models, so I picked up the two Grimdalf Dwarfs from Hasslefree. Originally, I'd planned to use them as Warsmiths. Scalewise, they are probably just too small to look right next to the Mantic models, but, if he is sat on an Anvil away from everyone else, I might just be able to wing it. What I need is any suggestions, or links to decent looking anvil models or alternatives. Cheers.

Well that is a bit of a challenge.... Alright Mirliton has a smithy with an anvil but you would have to buy the whole thing just for the anvil.... http://www.mirliton.it/product_info.php?pName=smith-workshop&cName=historical-2528mm-diorama-kitsMega minis, on the other hand, makes a blacksmiths shop with pieces that can be bought individually. The link is to their catalog, (they have a store on ebay) page 7 has the blacksmith tools. My first concern is it might be a bit small but then the Hasslefree minis are slightly smaller as well so it might work. http://www.megaminis.com/MEGA/CATALOGS/MegaMinis-DUNGEONDECORcatalog.pdfFoundry miniatures has a blacksmith set in the civil war collection with an anvil as well: http://wargamesfoundry.com/historical_ranges/single_packs/english_civil_war/british/blacksmith_ecw005/There are a fair number of standard miniature anvils ranging from toys to tools for jewelry making; one example of a model anvil: http://www.reindeerpass.com/anvilhammerandtongs.aspxNow these are all rather plain and might not look as nice as GW's so a dramatic dwarven base might be necessary to give the unit a more imposing profile, for example: http://www.sciborminiatures.com/en_,shop.php?art=732or... http://www.sciborminiatures.com/en_,shop.php?art=865There are also a few dwarf minis with anvils built in, if you were thinking of going that route... http://juza-miniaturas.blogspot.com/Of course the best route might be conversion or to scratch build one.... regards, IT

I always preferred the old anvil on wheels... That would really set it out from the current GW one if you went down that road.

Muchos linkage
Good stuff, cheers dude. Now, that has got me thinking... I guess it really doesn't have to be an anvil at all, as long as it looks suitable as a counts-as-anvil. Maybe some sort of Dwarven War Altar, or Camp area... Hmmmm. I do like that Juza one though.

The scibor dwarf base it perfect on its own, like striking the runned rock itelf just have to find a suitable anvil guard maybe some converted mantic dwarfs and the anvil lord can be something else with a big hammer Btw i am only the mongerer, he is the filth facilitator...

Not a problem gaarew, glad I could help and I agree the possibilities are endless for a striking "counts as" centerpiece (I quite liked the Juza one myself...) Marlowe, I was thinking of picking up the base myself actually, I can think of a few uses for it... If going that route you might want to look around the dwarf section of the scibor site, some of those sculpts look brilliant for guards or a smith and would fit well with the base I think. I must say I am impressed with most of the line, I think I will have to pick up some of the dwarfs and mosculs (could use as chaos dwarfs): http://www.sciborminiatures.com/en_,shop.php?art=790#i/lato_2009/big/dwarf_lord_02.jpghttp://www.sciborminiatures.com/en_,shop.php?art=620#i/krasnale__28mm_zywica/big/hamershield02.jpgwho would not want a king on warbear (and it seems that there are more warbears in the works)? http://www.sciborminiatures.com/en_,shop.php?art=851of course some sculpts are just blasphemous : http://www.sciborminiatures.com/en_,shop.php?art=866#i/2010/big/valentine_statue_01.jpgregards, IT

There is a peg on the underside of the Mantic Dwarf Organ Gun attachment. It already looks like an anvil. Cut it off and add some sort of base and you're done! I had the same plan for one but I've no idea what size an Anvil of Doom is

I had the same plan for one but I've no idea what size an Anvil of Doom is The official (current) model is freestanding but would fit approx a 60mm round base. The previous version was literally an Anvil on wheels and was freestanding. I just bit the bullet and had the old man order me a Dwarf Ironclad 3up Collector model to use as an Anvil. True line of sight be damned. Also picked up some barrels from Renedra to create a nice scenic base.
