Out of curiosity, what is the default size of game you play?

1500pts but thats only because thats as big as my second army is. As the armies grow so will the default size of my games though I reckon 2500pts will be the average with larger group games being a special occasion.

500 points mostly at the moment. I bring a small box of mantic along to the club to fill any half-hour+ gaps at the end of games or while we're waiting for someone who's late.

I can see 2000 making a good game. You get a lot more variety and different units on the table than fantasy at that point level. I've played around with a few lists, and it's usually possible to have "one of everything" at that point level if you leave out the more expensive heros.

Only thing I didn't like with the KoW rules was the hordes.. like fantasy, they're often the best way to go due to the way the rules work but they result in fewer units on the table.

That said, it is balanced out by the fact that taking regiments is the best way to go to get more war engines and heros, and they have made the smart move of restricting hordes only to basic infantry and not giving them to elites. Except for the undead revenants for some reason.. which doesn't make sense since they don't even sell a horde box for them.. whereas they do sell a horde box for the revenant cavalry (including 3 extra models to replace the duplicate command group) but those can't be taken as a horde in-game.

Probably with good reason.  That would be fast and have enough nerve to completely steamroll an army from one flank to the other.

Also, I'd rate Skeleton Phalanx with Dogs as a Horde over Revenants any day.

1500 for us but that's mainly due to the current armies we can put on the table. We might be able to push to 2000 but 1500 seems a nice mix of units.

Both my Dwarfs and Undead are probably at the 1500 points fully painted stage, maybe more for the Undead.

I reckon I'll aim for a minimum of 2000 points for every army, which should cover pretty much everything.  The only problem might be the Abyssal Dwarfs, as their fat list has so much in it.

I like the idea of 2250 Points. This gives you access so a big force - many regiments, you can play hordes without having to few units on the table (does anyone play Zombies below hordes? shame on you!  Grin), and the highpowered Models like Morgoth or a Elfen Lord on his Lizzard don't dominate the geme to much.

Most games are at 1000pt. at this time, because most of us owned 2000pt. WHFB-Armies (we startet playing again after the intro of the current editon of WHFB; I'm the only one with older armies) - and they brake down to around 1000pt. KoW...

1500 is my favorite size -- plenty of units, but usually you're having to leave out something that you want so you have to make a tactical choice even before beginning.  Plus, you can knock the game out quickly.

It's still smooth at 2000, and I haven't tried larger yet.  (Well, we did 3000 per side, but we basically played it like two 1500 point games on the same table.)

I've found 1500 points works pretty well on a 6' by 4' table, which is what I've got access to. At 2000 points there really isn't that much room for manoeuvring.

To echo Llew - 1500 works for 2 reasons - it fits nicely on the table and you can't take everything you want so you have to think about it.
