Hi VorpalHit!
Mantic Elves make for a beautiful army:) I love their lightweight plate armor and elegant and graceful poses. Of course undead are much better...what? You do both of them? Grand! I'm looking forward to the hardback book too, it's so exciting! Welcome to the Mantic Fanatics and may your time here be blessed!

Ohmigosh, your revenants are gorgeous! The details really pop and the colors work wonderfully to make them different than garden variety skeletons!

Thank you Matt, for the encouragement and for reading my fanfiction:) I like to think they get better as one goes along, but I could just be hoping, ha ha!

Be well,
Gerry
4  Painting & Modelling / Work in Progress / My Fresh Start with Mantic Once More! on: April 30, 2012, 08:40:51 am
Hi everyone! I am hurridly sloppy mopping Mantic models to prepare for our little unofficial Mantic themed open gaming day at the Armchair Adventurer game store in Honolulu Hawaii! In addition to two confirmed attendees who have Kings of War armies, I just learned another volunteer will be bringing Dwarf King's Hold to demo for us:) Life is good!

So, here are Marauders 11-20 from my first Fate of the Forgestar box set:

and here is my newly painted second Antonia the Dark model. Like the first one I wanted her to be wearing robes and armor made of the skins and bones of her dead lovers that I wrote about in a fanfic. But she actually does look better in brighter colors like most of you have painted her.

Anyways, I have her and 10 skellies from Mhorgoth's Revenge(my FLGS had 2 of the older sets left)

Oh, and I also put my 4 silly fanfictions about Antonia back on the internet: http://www.vengeanceguard.com/ Please read them when you are bored and need to kill a little time, and maybe let me know what you think?

Still waiting to get my account activated on Mantic's website, I wonder why it takes so long?

Have a nice week everyone!

Hi all! May 27th of 2012, we will be holding a Mantic open gaming/demo game day from 11:00AM- 7:00PM at the Armchair Adventurer in Honolulu, Hawaii, our Mantic carrying friendly local game store. At least two people are planning on bringing Mantic KoW armies, and we hope to tempt many of the walk in customers into playing a game of Warpath or Kings of War! Sadly I do not own Dwarf Kings Hold or it's sequels, or Project Pandora yet, but plan to run those in the future too.

I have purchased 2 Fate of the Forgestar sets and 2 Mhorgoth's Revenge sets and am busily painting them in my sloppy mop style. They should be ready by the 27th to allow people to borrow armies for the games.

I found an extra Antonia the Dark mini. I thought I had sold all my miniatures, but the dark Lady favors the faithful. I am just about to to paint her up.

Wow, Mantic Fanaticism is great fun isn't it?

Anyways, come to Hawaii on the 27th of May and game with me!

Be blessed!

6  Kings of War / Undead / Antonia the Dark's Evil Dead Army Bundle on: April 28, 2012, 12:47:33 am
Hey there Fanatics! Been awhile, I have been away from hobbying and wargaming for some time. But I just came back and saw to my delight in the Mantic Online store the army bundle "Antonia the Dark's Evil Dead"!

Hooray! Everyone's favorite Necromantrix is alive and well! I was doubly happy because I saw the Avatars of War female vampire figure bundled with another undead army and was worried the original character models were going to be retired or something... I am so glad I was wrong!

I'm putting up a new fan shrine to Antonia this week, I lost a lot of the old pictures and material I had on the last one, but that is all right. The future looks great for Mantic, and therefore for dear Antonia, and in time the web shrine will fill up with new material I trust.

Anyway, starting my fandom and fanaticism for all things Mantic all over again from scratch. Looking forward to seeing you all here and hopefully on the official Mantic Forums though I'm still waiting for membership confirmation.

Be well, and be blessed!

7  Kings of War / General KOW Discussion / Re: Mounting Miniatures on: October 09, 2011, 01:57:51 pm
Up to now I've been using a heavy double sided tape to adhere the models to my trays. That stuff has a ferocious grip, but if you struggle enough you can remove the models. But my recent human models are being glued to their trays. I think Kings of War will be around a long time, easily long enough to make it worth doing:)

Hello JP!
This was a fun story, in spite of being very dark in ways:) Very intrigued by the picture of The Corporation that you are painting through the crossed out text and the deletions! I knew they were evil, but they can't be...sexist?! Hey, we draw the line there buddy! (J/K, it was a wonderful detail!).

Read your latest blog post, I'm sorry that you've been going through a rough patch writing. I totally know what you mean about the self inflicted pressure. That can lead to burn out, so careful! Much more profitable to relax and recharge sometimes?

I really hope Mantic uses your story, very enjoyable!

9  The Games Room / Kings of Historical War / Re: Viking KoWHAC army - Image Showcase. on: October 09, 2011, 12:32:19 pm
Your painting is superb! It's very inspiring to see! I couldn't do as well if you gave me a week per model, I don't have the technique or talent, yet, I find your photos as exciting and thrilling as an epic mural or movie still.  Though I am not using diorama bases, your army units pics have encouraged me to mount my models on unit bases instead of loose on trays, and I'm very pleased.

Hello Neldoreth! Did you know that your website was responsible for attracting me back to Mantic? I've always wanted to do Historical gaming but rarely got the chance. My best times were decades ago when I played TSR's original "Chainmail" with Society for Creative Anachronism buddies...great fun!

Seeing your website made me realize just how flexible KoW is. Now that the 2.0 KoW edition is out, I am happily painting very old Ral Partha and Minifig Crusaders to use with the "Kingdoms of Men" list. Though miniatures have gotten very beautiful and intricately sculpted nowadays, I still find the little old leads very charming:)

Do you suppose you might work on some later period lists as suggested historical lists for later periods? I like the 1st Crusade, El Cid, Hundred Years War (Jeanne D'arc!!!), and the Mongols:)

The biggest problem with trying to simulate the Mongols seems to be the limited firing arcs of Scouts (bow armed light cav)and troop only unit size for the only cav with bows. I think the Yuan Dynasty is the best Mongol type to use for KoW, don't you? As I understand it, it was a lot more infantry than the typical Mongol army.

Right now I'm a little burned out as a Fanatic, so taking it easy with some Historicals sounds like a great idea to me! Of course I'm going to get Warpath and keep supporting Mantic as well as I can, but the idea of replaying the Crusades with the KoW 2.0 rules fascinates me. Any suggestions and help you can give me would be most welcome!

Thank you!
Gerry

P.S. I'm a huge fan of Peter Brook's "The Mahabharata" and am surprised nobody ever released the Pandavas and the Kauravas complete with all the supernatural entities as a list or an army. I doubt Indians would be offended if it was done tastefully, as they are well aware it's an Epic Poem and not a literal historical document.

Nice Marcus, your desert raiders and orcs are a fabulous addition to your Desert Power undead hordes! Your Berzerker-Cyborg is really nice, the pose and the equipment you chose for the arms work really well together!

Hello Buffirn!
I like to think the original D&D days were magical, and that gaming attracted only the very highest quality of people back then:) Heh heh! Welcome, welcome!

Long live Mantic!

Ah, nice! I expect to see a lot of historical and fantasy models in Reb armies, the fluff makes it sound natural and even perhaps commonplace for the Rebs to 'rescue' native planets.

Your Wargames Factory Persians look nice! I have some, I want to use them as Crusades Muslims, do you think they are close enough? The 300 Spartans must've been a long time before 11th century.... But they are perfect for desert cultists, nice Lord Marcus!
