Ahhh if you used the Ghoul it could represent a ghoul queen (mantic journal 1), but might require a 'gut' to fit the part.

That way it could have banner (perhaps a bone totem) and be a musician (shouting)

Hey there Smiley

Now that looks really cool!

Did you use rough coat spray or similar to texture it, and was it a 'pound shop' offering?

I may have to steal the idea please!!

Hi All,

As some of you know I'm making up a dual purpose Kings of War undead army Smiley This time, I'm trying to cut down on too much conversion work and trying to keep painting basic, to get the army finished as a large 'gaming' rather than 'painting' army...

In progress so far:

Mhorgoth the faceless:

His 'magicky energy stuff' will be orange, and I'll paint part of his robe/inner clothing a brighter blue to match my orange/blue colour scheme (its his summper clothing Tongue )

Grenadier Rhino:

the base is bulked up with 'steel putty' I recommend this stuff for big models basing!

I've tried to make the trapped prisoners look more like lost souls Smiley

The howda will be painted with the orange/blue scheme, and will be crewed by spare mantic skeletons.

Will keep updated, all comments appreciated!!
------------------------
Mhorgoth pretty much done...

-------------
Howda for Rhino (now I have the fin of pinning the big lump to the bigger lump!

-------------------
Queen Khalida is a great model, but I wanted my own version, so it was off to the internet an I came back with this lady:

I was going to use her unmodified, but changed my mind. I decided to keep the sword (love the detail and pose) but added bandages and partial deat mask.

I'll be following the same orange/blue & odd bits of evil green scheme, but would also LOVE to mount her on this: http://www.thehobbykingdom.com/ProductDetail.aspx?CID=1137&ID=8190&RetURL=%2fMarketplace.aspx%3fCID%3d1137 but am unsure if would A: work or B: just stand out too much from the unit (leaving her open to true line of sight in fantasy...

any ideas welcome! Cheesy
22  Painting & Modelling / Conversion Corner / Mantic Skeletons to Skeleton archers on: January 23, 2011, 09:07:21 pm
Hi guys Cheesy

Well basically I want to be able to use my Skeletons as either archers or warriors (in Kings of War and in Tomb Kings list).

So trying to use only mantic bits (excepting the pole from the banner pole) I set to work.

Please let me know what you think! The skeletons will remain detachable from the formation, and the regiment bases are split into 2 blocks of ten models.

I'll be spraying ant painting them shortly Smiley

I know, I'm sorry Tongue its like passing on a virus, I've been doing the same, but trying to resist until I have enough stuff wanted to justify the postage Cheesy

I would also love the mammoth! Tongue

Let me know if you do order one, to see how the molds are holding out Smiley

Cheers,
back to browsing for me... seeing as ebays a bit bereft at the minute Tongue

Thats a really cool idea Smiley

I've now found a website that took on the old molds from Grenadier, and have started reproducing them!! (as well as some other excellent old stuff)

I don't know if its in lead or white metal, the postage is rather high, but the stuff is pretty heavy!

http://www.mirliton.it/index.php?cName=fantasy-2528mm

There is also a skeletal dragon....

Anyway, Once I've got it painted, I'll pop another picture in scale with some mantic models.

I am now very tempted to buy a second one and cundertake such conversion work... I'm a little reluctant to fiddle with this one too much as its so old (I was only 5 when it was released! Tongue ).

Hi there Gaarew Smiley

Its about the same size as the metal Games Workshop Lizard Man Stegadon, so pretty hefty!!

I'm hoping at some point that mantic introduce some 'big guys' to the armies so that he can count as one of them Smiley

On saying that though... I could count it as a 'Vampire Lord on Pegasus' for now, and not let it fly?

A good idea to use as a balefire, or perhaps as a battery of them?

Anyhow, I should be (finally!!!) getting my undead army, Morgoth the faceless, and a load of bits and bobs when my girl firiend comes up this evening Smiley So provided I'm not too hung over Tongue I should be able to get everything constructed and base coated Sat morning!!
26  Painting & Modelling / Conversion Corner / Re: Undead Rhino :) on: January 21, 2011, 09:15:26 am
Excellent ideas!! Smiley

Yes, I think your right, spirits would look good, and provide the contrast needed to break up the model.

I can do a bit of directional lighting inside... and it will also contrast with the glowy green eye sockets I use on the rest of the army Smiley

Cheers!!
27  Painting & Modelling / Conversion Corner / Undead Rhino :) on: January 21, 2011, 12:31:10 am
Hi all!

Well, I finally managed to get ahold of an old Grenadier undead rhino (£16 of Ebay woot!), I've always wanted one!!

I would like to either combine with other 'undead'/skeletal animals/cavalry to 'count as' a unit of revenants...

Anyway, when it arrived it was gunked up with epoxy, and took some serious attention, but, I've now pinned it (not glued it yet) and here are a few pics Smiley

I just need to make a new crew now (still thinking on that one), and possibly find a replacement for the bolt-thrower thats supposed to be in the howda, I'll also be using a flat chariot sized base, and steel putty to make it secure (it does weigh a ton!).

Now, there are 'prisoners' inside the rib cage. I can't really imagine any self respecting undead army really taking 'live' prisoners, so I may either paint them as zombies or as trappe spirits? What do you guys think?
28  Painting & Modelling / Miniature Showcase / Re: Desert based Undead :) on: January 18, 2011, 01:45:12 pm
Yes, I was thinking in the style of Amrish Puri in the style of Indiana Jones and the temple of doom for the look Smiley
29  Non Mantic Mayhem / Painted Minis / Re: Non mantic models for my Kings of War undead/Khemri army on: January 18, 2011, 08:11:33 am
Wow thank you!

excellent stuff right there Smiley

As soon as I get my hands on some actual models, I can put up some more pics!! (is it onlyt Tuesday... bleh!)
30  Non Mantic Mayhem / Painted Minis / Re: Non mantic models for my Kings of War undead/Khemri army on: January 17, 2011, 09:12:21 pm
Hi there Cheesy

Thankyou!! Some of those are excellent... I would be very tempted to see if I could either strengthen them with internal wire (the skeletal snake thing I love!) or perhaps (for personal use only) mold and rcast them in someway (no experience at it).

as a side note, I'm rather pleased with myself for picking up the Grenadier Undead Rhino from ebay for £20 Smiley Rather surprised as I see it sell for so much!

in Kings of War it could perhaps be represented by a horse regiment rules?

and in warhammer a bonegiant i think?

its a lovely looking model
