1  Kings of War / Game Rules / Re: Playing around with alternating activations on: January 20, 2012, 11:39:03 am
Never did like the IGoUGo.  Always bored me waiting for the other player to finish.  I sort of like the random activations of the card system in Reaper's Warlord.
2  Painting & Modelling / The Paintstation / Re: Magnetic basing on: January 05, 2012, 12:10:18 am
I mag the bases before I assemble.  No need to blu-tac them to a holder when painting, I can just stick them to a metal "handle".
3  Non Mantic Mayhem / Non Mantic Mini Discussion / Re: Nova Corp. - Reapers SciFi mini's. on: December 31, 2011, 12:08:13 am
Whenever I get frustrated with the stuff on my gaming table, I always get a Reaper fig to work on.  It's nice to do a pewter piece that doesn't take days to file and a thimblefull of GS.  I prefer white metal, but a lot of "game" companies can't cast pewter to a decent standard (Mantic included).
4  Painting & Modelling / The Paintstation / Steel Movement Trays on: December 30, 2011, 11:59:28 pm
I just received an order of steel movement trays from Shogun and posted an informal review of them HERE
5  Kings of War / General KOW Discussion / Re: manti KOW Battlesets on: December 29, 2011, 07:50:36 pm
For Elves, I would Pick the Army Deal over the Warhost.  For $12, you get the p[rinted rules, an exclusive figure, another regiment, and another troop (actually, 81+2 WM instead of 71+2).  I don't see that the mega army is much of a deal unless you plant to get a Elf Lord on Dragon real soon anyway.

For Undead, I'd make the same recommendations.  The Undead Batallion is the best deal.  110 figures for $63.

Other KoW factions, I have no experience.

This is going strictly by what's offered on TWS's site.  After dealing with their "supply chain managed" stuff, I'd definitely recommend NOT ordering anything listed as "pre-order" and anything that isn't "regular stock, ships in 1 day".  If they don't have it for immediate shipping, they suck and you won't hear from them until you jerk their chain

7  Non Mantic Mayhem / Non Mantic Mini Discussion / Re: Teutonic Knights From FireForge Games on: December 23, 2011, 03:47:48 am
Knights sell.  Every child (well maybe minus a few oddballs) of western civilization dreamed of chivalry and heroics in plate mail.

Personally, I would really like an Apache army.

EDIT: but I really do like the looks of these Teutonics
8  Painting & Modelling / Conversion Corner / Re: What would you do with 10 orphaned war engine crew? on: December 22, 2011, 07:13:15 pm
I've actually thought about converting them with some of my skellie bits.  Like having skellies ripping their way out of corpses.

Use some of the bits-n-bobs to arm them and make a troop of scouts,spear,bow.....

Not sure about you, but I've got a pint jar half full of extra arms, heads, and countless elven corpses.  Seriously.  Corpses.  Now there's the useless figs.  Reminds me of some of my coworkers

Thanks man.  I'll get that rolling as soon as my wallet recovers from Christmas Wink

Glad the dream has renewed itself JP.  If you were doing US business, I'd put in an order to help you out.  Curious to see what BF is like.

As for TTN, I don't have a Warseer account and have no plans to join just for the one discussion.  I saw in one reply that "rich" doesn't categorize himself as a businessman.  I would have to agree.  Most businesspeople are smart enough to not let themselves look like a complete jerk on a public forum.

Starting to look like some sort of pyramid marketing/dropshipper scheme.
13  Painting & Modelling / Work in Progress / Re: Basing for KOW - Full regiment or 5 man strips? on: December 16, 2011, 02:33:26 am
No problem.  I was so happy to stumble across them that I figured a lot of others would be also.  Honestly, their prices are very reasonable compared to some of the things we wargamers invest in.

Each of my figures have a 1/4" X 1/32"  neodymium magnet glued to the bottom.  After serious thought of cutting my own steel movement trays, I found shogunminiatures.com  - their price for flanged steel movement trays are much more attractive than anything I could cobble with hammer and tin snips.

The movement trays can be magnetized into any container you choose - just glue some mag's into the container.

I also put letters and numbers on the bottom of each base to index the position of the figure.  That way, I can split a regiment of 20 into 2 troops of 10, etc. and still not go insane trying to weave them back together.

BTW, make sure you turn magnetic polarity the same way on the bases.

So if you rented a storage unit and ran the business from there...?

Of course, the computer side could be accomplished from home, print your shipping labels, take them to the storage unit, ready your parcels, then drive them to the post.

Just ideas.  Trying to help you think outside the box a little
