Hi, welcome to the forums. I just wanted to say, I enjoyed your story of how you found this place and got back into gaming.
I've always found that taking things slowly(in terms of purchasing) really helps me stay engaged in the hobby. As does just taking your time with the whole thing. It's actually not that hard to create a campaign between two people once the two of you feel confident in the game a bit.

Warpath / Game Rules / Re: Warpath 1st Edition (melee and special weapons)

Yeah, that sounds right. It is very simple.
And I'm guessing you learned that the grunts section is really not geared to taking out tanks in combat. I think we were using a Stunt Bot team, or a Captain, although in combat a ripper team is probably the best thing to take.

Kings of War / General KOW Discussion / Re: My first army of 2012

It's really hard to say. I think that each army appeals to different people. Obviously I'd narrow it down to the armies I like the aesthetic of most.
Then I'd look into the play styles of those armies, as personally I don't want to collect an army of vast amounts of infantry only to find out I want an elite army with access to lots of shooting.
What kind of play style are you looking for?

I don't really know, as I don't play elves, but I wanted to say congrats on finding a group of that size. Sounds good.
You could always look into the armies that they have no models for yet and see what you think about them...

Hey Darsc. To be honest, it seems like a fairly expensive thing to do, as you'd have to buy one of every single mini they produce. I have a camera that can do all of that. The actual video part would be very simple to do (as I'm sure you can tell). It really is just having a good camera, and a turntable(both of which I have). Pity it's so expensive. Look forward to seeing what happens.

Not a bad idea, and not too hard to remember on a smaller forum.
I actually have painted more this year than I bought. However I haven't managed a 2:1 ratio, which is really what I need at this point. I'm sure I'm not the only one here who's unpainted minis outnumber the painted. However at the start of this year I think my unbuilt models outnumbered my painted ones.
It took me about 5 years or so to do my skaven army when the new book caused me to loose interest in finishing the last few units(pathetic, but it happens) as it meant i would have to change around a bunch of unit sizes etc.
Once this Brett/undead army is done I think it'll be warpath stuff or quite some time.

Well, like usual I'm going to try and buy less than I paint. I've managed this a few years now, but since I hadn't been doing it for quite some time when I started the hobby I always seem to have more minis. Finish the undead/brettonian army that I started. Build some(any) sci-fi terrain. Some stuff Max and I are working on for the podcast

These are interesting... I have a few, but I'm not sure how related to the game they are:
Highs: Rediscovering my love of sci-fi wargaming that I had in 2nd ed 40k and Epic through playing warpath.
Realising I'm in for the long haul with Warpath and getting a good few people to play it.
Improving my unit painting techniques
The corporation list. It is fab.
Starting the podcast and then making the Christmas video in just a week(I've always loved that poem).
Having a gaming club run every Saturday.
Lows: Having the gaming club I run prevent me from attending 4 weekend tournaments this year.
The fact that since I like KoW and Warhammer equally, it makes it much more difficult to convince others to play KoW with me.
Randomness of the mantic nerve system.
Owning so many GW models that I can't excuse buying as many mantic ones as I'd like.
