Title: Gaming table ready, army ready (ish).. Preparation for the KoW invitational!
Post by: Jonathan Faulkes on January 29, 2012, 05:40:08 pm
My garage now has a 6x4 table in the middle, ready for some practice games for the invitational.  Looks good to see my Dwarf army all laid out in one place.  Now, if only I could settle on an army list!

First timed games on Tuesday night, could be interesting!

Yeah I need to have some games with the proposed rules and lists. I too need to change what I was planning!

Bloody army lists...  Dropping my beserker lord in favour of ranger troop.  And downloaded a chess clock app to get some time pressure!

Pictures will get posted!

We've played the last two games with timers. It makes for a speedy game!

My concern is that I like a bit of banter when I play..  Not sure if my opponents would appreciate that!

Banter on your own clock and they shouldn't have cause to complain. ;)

However, the tourneys seem designed to actually be completed in a timely manner.  You should be able to socialize more after the game.

Can someone give me a rough idea of how much the army lists have changed? :)

Unlike last time I won't ask for a copy until mantic posts it publically, but I am curious about how much work I'm looking at for the battlescribe files.

Just a few tweaks, or massive points value/ stat changes across the board and loads of new units?

Generally just a few tweaks I think. I've not had time to scan through them all yet. One big set of additions which affects all armies though (I'm guessing you can do it once and copy it or share it for each army, depending on how batlescribe works).

As Matt said, a few minor tweaks, mainly artillery and a whole new addition for all the armies

Thanks!

If it's some sort of shared allied monster bestiary or common magic items list, that should be easy enough to fit in. Will be working an alliance system into the files at some point soon (the developer is working on a way to allow an army list to take units from multiple different lists for a future update), so that will be easy enough.

Any changes to follow-on with the playtest rules?  ;)

Interesting game.  My opponent won by around 400 points or so, but he also only had 10 seconds left at the end..  Perfect timing or cutting it close?

Made a few tactical fails, the high light being setting up my 6 cannons behind the bulk of my army...  Mmmm.

Lessons learnt.

The latest version of the rules does feel better; will be interesting to see what the invitational throws up.  Wonder if anyone is going for the all cav army again?

We are going to have to come up with a clever plan to overcone this Llew!  Maybe we should get Kentucky to annex England.

You could ask cunning questions in an attempt to fool us into giving answers.

But then we'd be fools ;)
